Prestigious Australia Awards scholarships on offer for high-achieving Filipinos
Thirty-one new Australia Awards scholars from government and industry are set to depart for Australia to undertake 12 to 18 months of study and training. They are part of approximately 60 Australian-funded scholars each year who earn either a Master’s degree or PhD from world-class Australian universities and return to the Philippines to lead high-impact development projects and programs.
From 1 February to 30 April 2019, the Australian Government will accept applications for study commencing in 2020 through the website www.australiaaawardsphilippines.org.
The Australia Awards offer high-achieving Filipinos a world-class Australian education in a friendly, safe multicultural environment. Scholars gain valuable knowledge and skills in priority areas of study that will help them make a difference in their home country. The experience will also provide scholars the opportunity to forge links with Australia’s public, private, academic and civil society networks.
“We are proud to help develop Australian-educated leaders in fields that are important to the Philippines,” explained Steven Robinson AO, Australian Ambassador to the Philippines.
Australia Awards’ priority areas for the Philippines are trade and economics, infrastructure and smart cities, digital economy, peace and development, education, governance and public policy including civil society and media, natural resource management including mining and energy, and humanitarian and disaster risk management.
Australia Awards has supported over 4,000 Filipinos to gain postgraduate education in Australia since the 1950s. Awardees receive full support including tuition, living allowance, air travel and health insurance. The application process is open and competitive, providing equal opportunity to all eligible Filipinos.
To learn more about this opportunity, visit the website and attend the information session on Wednesday 13 February, 3:00-4:30pm at the Renoir Function Room, Novotel Manila Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City.
