About ICSP

The In-Country Scholarship Program (ICSP) launched its pilot scholarship offering in June 2012. Through the initiative and generous support of the Australian government, 99 postgraduate scholarship grants were awarded to targeted professionals based in Mindanao, especially in conflict and post-conflict affected areas.

The pioneering batch of cohorts pursued post-graduate degrees in education, social protection and community development, urban planning and infrastructure development, public administration and governance, programs in peace and development, human resource and organisational development, climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction and management.

The Australian Government delivered ICSP through its Philippines-Australia Human Resource and Organisational Development Facility (PAHRODF) and in partnership with academic institutions that offer these study areas in both Mindanao and Metro Manila.

In July 2015, the expanded ICSP was introduced. ICSP 2 intends to build a pool of potential leaders and technical professionals who can contribute in pursuing Bangsamoro development priorities.

The ICSP is an initiative to complement the Australia Awards Scholarships, which supported over 2,500 of the best and brightest Filipinos to undertake post-graduate studies in Australia's leading universities over the past two decades. It provides professional development opportunities for Filipinos who are unable to study in Australia because of work or family demands. It will also provide more options for people with disabilities who have particular care requirements.
