It was 1999. Forensic science was still largely a man’s world. But the 30-year old Filipina scientist worked tirelessly alongside her male colleagues – forensic pathologists, lawyers, judges, police officers – and proved that women can flourish whether in the crime scene or in the laboratory. Her voice, after all, provided the crucial DNA information that would solve crimes.
